Principal Process Engineer (Client Team) – Contract – Hybrid / Gwent
Location: Hybrid / South Wales
This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading engineering business during a period of continued growth as they support the Oil & Gas, Chemical and Renewable Energy sectors. The role will be incorporated as part of the client team supporting a major chemical facility.
The role will be working on either a hybrid or full time office basis. If hybrid 2 days can be working remotely with 3 days to be based in the client location in South Wales.
This role is deemed outside IR35.
Role & Responsibilities
- The role will be working as part of the Client team, supporting an existing team of engineers in the development of complex projects.
- Develop the scope of work / basis of design for studies and projects.
- Complete RV calculations, pump calculationss, size orifice plates and complete heat exchanger calculations.
- Undertake and checking of process calculations.
- Preparation and checking of process deliverables – PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications, process descriptions, philosophies and narratives.
- Supporting the project during FEED and detailed design stages.
- Perform safety related calculations and provide input to safety reviews – What If, Hazop SIL Assessment, etc.
- Utilise process simulation software as required for the development of process deliverables.
- Attend in-house and site-based meetings / reviews with clients.
- Undertake short and long-term business travel in support of studies, projects and consultancy.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Degree in Chemical Engineering essential, chartered status desired but not essential.
- Previously worked on design projects in the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Petrochem, or Renewable Energy industries.
- Experience in relevant design standards and protocols.
- Previous site experience in conjunction with a design background beneficial.
