Principal Electrical Engineer (ETAP experience) – Contract – Remote / Hybrid
Location: Remote/ Hybrid
This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading engineering business during a period of continued growth as they support the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Renewable Energy and Nuclear sectors. The role support the ongoing development of electrical infrastructure projects on a major brownfield energy plant and will suit engineers who have previous site experience in addition to purely design. The successful person must have ETAP experience.
The role can be working remote / hybrid but will require occasional trips to South / West Wales and / or Scotland.
The role is outside IR35.
Role & Responsibilities
- Undertake design and checking of deliverables according to discipline and area of expertise.
- Preparation and checking of deliverables including drawings, schedules, datasheets, specifications, (input to control philosophies and narratives if applicable) for LV, MV and HV equipment.
- Wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions, system calculations, 1-line and 3-line AC drawings, AC & DC schematics, equipment sizing and perform cable sizing calculations.
- CompEx 12 is desirable but not essential.
- The role will also involve regular site visits to inspect and report on design specifications and the overall requirements needed to ensure key engineering deliverables.
- Supporting FAT and SATs.
- Participation in design review, 3D Model Reviews, Value Engineering, Risk Management workshops,
- Design and testing of simulation software devices for complete project simulation.
- Responsible for engineering design and assessment in line with client expectations as well as supporting others within the team.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Must be degree qualified, chartered status desired but not essential.
- Experience of designing electrical equipment, preferably in an energy industry environment.
- ETAP experience is essential.
- CompEx 12 is highly desirable but not essential.
- Previously worked on design projects in the Oil & Gas, Petrochem, or Renewable Energy industries.
- Experience of electrical equipment and its application in conventional and safety applications.
- Experience in relevant design standards and protocols.
- Experience in other major energy such as Energy from Waste or similar will also be highly advantageous.
- Previous site experience in conjunction with a design background beneficial.
